About Us

Whereas the World African Progressive Awareness Organization (WAPAO) was officially founded on July 21st, 1994, in Brooklyn, New York City, USA, by some young African-Americans, including Sam C. Baker and McNeil Jefferson, under the able leadership of Rev. Franklin Todd, its first President-General. The following year, the WAPAO was launched in Kingston, Jamaica, where its first agricultural project was executed.

Whereas, on March 20th, 1996, the WAPAO was launched in Monrovia, the United Coast of Liberia, in order to help war-affected people realize their value and potential and develop themselves in their environment. However, after a month of WAPAO launching in Liberia, it was methodically launched in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Accra, Ghana, and Lagos, Nigeria. In early 1997, the WAPAO was also launched in Dakar, Senegal, Banjul, The Gambia, and Abidjan, Ivory Coast. That same year, WAPAO attempted to launch a Johannesburg, South Africa Chapter, but the then government of South Africa refused to grant permission for its establishment in that country.

We hope to achieve our goals by playing our part in eradicating all modern forms of evil, such as injustices, slavery in all forms, racial discrimination, tribalism, human rights abuses, human trafficking, child labor, mass hunger, diseases, intolerance, and other vices that are leading our world into ruin.

The World African Progressive Awareness Organization (WAPAO) is a non-governmental, humanitarian group working for the development of all humankind. It creates opportunities for underprivileged and oppressed communities to live free from poverty, injustice, and discrimination.

Our Mission

The mission of the World African Progressive Awareness Organization (WAPAO) is geared towards extending God’s love, compassion, and an open and accommodating heart to our brothers and sisters who are underprivileged, vulnerable, oppressed, suppressed, abused, or subjected to poverty, hunger, disease, etc
